Promoting Poland: Polish National Tourist Office

2008 was a busy year for the Polish National Tourist Office. In addition to ongoing promotional activities which include co-operation with Discover Poland magazine, online training for tour operators and the Polish Wow Factor page on Facebook, the social networking site, the Polish National Tourist Office achieved the following in 2008:

• 1000 posters on the London Underground
• 39 advertisements in the press
• 2 press campaigns
• 14 internet campaigns
• 25 promotional events
• 13 press conferences
• 52 individual meetings with tour operators
• 18 press trips
• 22 study trips for tour operators
• 8 travel shows
• 62 presentations
• Distributed an impressive 4.5 tons of brochures
The success of these initiatives is reflected in an increase in the number of visitors to Poland. According to Office of National Statistics, 1.5 million British nationals visited Poland in 2007, which is an increase of 26.5% on the previous year.

At a reception hosted at the Polish Embassy in London at the end of December 2008, Ewa Binkin, Development Manager and Acting Director of the Polish National Tourist Office in London pledged that 2009 would be even busier, with even more people being encouraged to discover Poland.
